Lyrics
You two met on the job. You worked the same floor selling gifts and merchandise nobody could afford. Your numbers were exchanged; the drinks were bought; your secrets circulated at risk of getting caught.
Caught you crushing hard; it was obvious to me. You spoke about their accent like an obsolete currency. We showed up to the same stages for months. "They're just a friend," you'd tell me, but then you'd meet one-on-one.
I will wait up until your last round. Did we build a church just to burn it down? I'll admit that I like having them around.
Call it common sense. Call it no restraint. Call it what our bodies want, a cure for growing pains.
There's comfort in a life upon a leash, but how can we evolve if we don't ever run collar-free?
And besides—after all these years in exclusivity, don't you ever wonder about where other people sleep? We share a bed, a home, a history—but darling, we're not getting younger. I'll let you take the lead. I need relief from all this storm and stress; you want a change; this is our acid test; we'll have sought solace in someone else's skin. (...)
Despite the odds, we still made it through; our itch surely scratched; will it leave a bruise? I'm much obliged to lie with the two of you.
