A flag upon my wall
But now you sit in silence
In deafening withdrawal

I recede into my terrors
My shallow, cold abyss
The raindrop on my face
And the times that are remiss

There’s no paint on the ceiling
The mildew stings the air
Your portrait’s by my bedside
It’s colder over there

Dilapidated house
And the mice are all my friends
Sometimes I get trapped
With no means at my end

The candle wick is smothered
By the bath from stolid eyes
The dormant wreck of winter
Leads to my new demise

Laying down in water
Face unforeseen collapse
Why try to escape
When my back’s turned to the facts
