Between hip hop, house, signalwave, Muzak-based mallsoft, future funk, and The Caretaker, the 70s (and even the late 60s) have lent sample-based music plenty of material. However, I felt that a ubiquitous genre of the 70s needed some modern representation: soft tempo/easy listening. Genres normally associated with the era like rock, funk, and disco have aged very gracefully and continue to inspire modern popular music, but if you really want to feel like you're present in a bygone age, soft tempo will take you there.
