Piasshingu Remixed by Various Artists

Here is a rundown of the history of Piasshingu, the song.;

In October (24) I watched a lowly rated mildly good movie called Piercing, and was curious about the book it was based on, a 1994 Japanese novel named Piasshingu, or, Piercing in English. I really liked the book and chose the theme as a good way to tackle a Halloween song for an upcoming compilation.

Then the song was rejected. I spent the rest of the month creating about 8 versions of the song, some shorter, some with less dialogue samples, faster, shorter, slower… then I shelved it for awhile. Then I decided it’d still be great to put on a compilation and it ended up here with NAAC.

The following month after letting the track live and breathe, a comment from my friend Oymoc made me think, wait, what if all my favorite producers from the underground remix this particular song?

So now a few months later we have a diverse range of insanely cool remixes of a song that was once rejected. I think that’s a really neat thing to have made happen, however strange it may be.

I chose to name each track exactly the same as the file name that was sent to me by each artist because it’s a) fascinating (to me) how different artists make their files and b) is this was 11 remixes named (Piasshingu XXXXX REMIX x11 that would be boring.

P.S. about the album art / doll. My boss found this creepy doll and set it up in my work station thinking he’d spook me but I found it funny and left it. For two weeks ihe kept calling it my “work girlfriend” and it was a dumb but endearing joke. I was going to buy it clothes and leave it there cause why not. One day I was sick and my cover was so spooked out and hated the doll so much she threw it in the dumpster. It was garbage day. R.I.P. Belinda.
