dreamt out under stars, beneath the boughs, held at length about imagined perimeter. thought i saw the past and future esconce, in tender conspiracy. i was the subject of their long mutterings, and all roads i'd walk, and the dust high in the air, and the rest of everything was not pointless, as, once, i'd hoped. woke up, dewy and starry-eyed. the futures i'd seen long before were comin' in, on the gentle morning breeze.
