É. Danco by Pilgrimage to Pleroma

Expedition ship 'Belgica' is the first ship to have stayed on the Antarctic ice pack for an entire winter. When the Polar night sets in, on 18th of May 1898, the crew suffers tremendously. Low moral, frozen limbs, headaches, depression. Some sailors become hysterical or schizophrenic. One of them even leaves the ship to "return to Belgium". The extreme and inhospitable circumstances become fatal for Malines-born Émile Danco. He dies of a heart condition and a day later, on 7th of June 1898, his body is burried on the Last Contintent.

PILGRIMAGE TO PLEROMA brings ambient music arising directly from contemplative meditation. Drawing on Buddhist thematics and practice, the central concepts in the music – as well as the music itself – revolve around a disintegration of the ego, and a pursuit of absolute one-eness with our world, nature, and the universe.
