заглавный трек этого сингла «квадраты» основан на стихотворении владимира лифшица (1913-1978), ленинградского поэта, с конца 1940-х жившего в москве. для публикации лифшиц выдал его за перевод из выдуманного им английского поэта джемса клиффорда, якобы родившегося в 1913 году и погибшего в 1944-м на фронте в арденнах. впервые опубликовано в батумской городской газете, редактором которой был приятель лифшица, а вскоре - в московском журнале "наш современник" (1964, №7, с. 56—61).
в 2004-2005 гг. стихотворение стало песней, бытовавшей в анархо-экологической среде, в движениях "автономное действие" и "хранители радуги". случилось это после того, как стихотворение напечатали на задней обложке анархического журнала "автоном" №22 (весна-лето 2004). в 2009 песня на это стихо вошла в альбом группы телевизор «дежавю» (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKcB0DPRcY0). идея нашей версии возникла в 2018 году, однако музыка была завершена только в 2023 году и спета нейросетью в 2024.

the song «квадраты» (squares) is based on a poem by vladimir lifshits (1913-1978), a leningrad poet who lived in moscow from the late 1940s. to publish it, lifshits passed it off as a translation from an english poet he had invented, james clifford, who was allegedly born in 1913 and died in 1944 at the front in the ardennes. first published in the batumi city newspaper, whose editor was a friend of lifshits, and soon after in the moscow magazine ‘nash sovremennik’ (our contemporary) (1964, no. 7, pp. 56-61).
in 2004-2005 it became a song in the anarcho-ecological environment, in the movements «autonomous action» and «keepers of the rainbow». this happened after the poem was printed on the back cover of the anarchist magazine «autonom» no. 22 (spring-summer 2004). in 2009 the song to this poem was included in the album «дежавю» (déjà vu) by the band телевизор (televizor). the idea for our version appeared in 2018, but the music was completed only in 2023 and sung by a neural network in 2024.
the final track of the single, «анархический батальон» ( «anarchist battalion»), is a cover version of the anarcho-punk song of the same name by монгол шуудан (mongol shuudan). in addition, the track is based on a sample from this song. (https://youtu.be/720iNbcEkYI?si=YyCBx0YwXioCASJc)
