In keeping with the intergalactic music theme of preceding label compilation Distant Arcade, we asked the Potholes Music artists to put together some exclusive material that knocks just as much as it drifts into the galaxy to create Lift Off. That means there are plenty of spaced-out synthesizers utilized on here, though it's not all huge swashes of sounds you'd hear while traveling to another planet.
Man Mantis' "When You're Laughing In The Dark" is equally cinematic and prepped for video game soundtracks while Jay Cue's "A New Life In The Stars" could replace the Star Wars "Cantina Song". Then there's vhvl's "abysml", which is equally crunchy and thudding, and LAKIM's "'89 Shine (Raw S#%)", which is a blast of horns and huge drums.
In other words, the members of our ridiculously talented crew found their own ways to interpret the theme of producing an intergalactic banger. We are all incredibly excited to share Lift Off with you all. We feel that it's our best compilation-style release to date and we can't stress enough how awesome Theodore Taylor III's artwork is. Oh, and did we mentioned that it's completely free to download?
