Midnight Snacks by Various Artists

This all started to come together back in May 2011, when I really, really started diving in the instrumental hip-hop scene that’s taken off across the globe. It feels like every few days we’re posting new beat tapes or albums from producers from the States, U.K., Germany, France, Japan, Russia, and so on. Not only that, but these producers have often created some of the year’s finest material, be it Paul White’s Rapping With Paul White or Man Mantis’ Cities Without Houses.

With that in mind, I wanted to put together an exclusive, Potholes-sponsored compilation showcasing some of our favorite producers. As such, we bring you Midnight Snacks, a night time-centric affair featuring 18 tracks from 18 different artists, all of whom showcase the various sides of hip-hop production. There are sample-driven bangers from guys like Danny! and Al Jieh; soaring mini-epics from Blue Sky Black Death and Citymouth; and futuristic funk from Jay Cue and the Super 3. It’s all here, y’all, and it’s all free.
