Harvest Moon

Her hair turns to glass under the rain
It spills from the locks like chardonnay
I'll always remember it 'cuz the violet backdrop hangs
A harvest moon

Many more miles in the rain
Many more miles lane by lane
The hardest road we've ever walked on was under that same
Havest moon

We stopped for a moment to catch our breath
We noticed the moonlight had not left
We took a last look at the skyline
As it burned and turned to dust

It caused a whirlwind, how chaotic
The yelps and screams were so symphonic
And as the crowd died down
The dust collected into a massive urn

Escape was near and so we yearned
My baby held tight as our bodies churned

We waited on this abandoned road
We swear we were told would send us home
Home

Racing out from the ground
Farther and farther and farther out
Up and through the smoke
Cutting through the cold

To the harvest moon
