Atlantic by Ryan Jewell, Rafael Toral

Ryan Jewell and Rafael Toral found out they deal with similar notions of space, density and composition. The duo's Ohio shows in 2015 (Columbus, Oberlin) revealed a rare matching chemistry and compositional intelligence. There they decided to continue collaborating as a working unit. In April 2017 Jewell landed in Lisbon and the duo played a live set at Damas and had a recording session at 15-A, from which "East Atlantic" was made. Later in September, Toral returned to the US for a tour and joined Ryan Jewell in a string of dates in the Midwest: Lexington, KY; Athens, Columbus and Todelo, OH; Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI. "West Atlantic" was produced from a studio session in Columbus on September 22nd.
