Obstacle 80XT by Rick Myers
A limited edition cassette, utilizing a test pressing of Myers’s imminent debut solo LP (2022, Cejero, Copenhagen) for a cut-up spoken text. This precursory release and “spoken text for two pianos and piano strings, transducer, tape and magnetic fields + turntable”, expands a body of interdisciplinary “Obstacle” artworks by Myers, encompassing drawing, writing, photographic works, video and sound.
Produced in a run of 57 numbered copies (with the first ten forming an elaborate artwork edition), professionally duplicated on High Bias tape, with the cover printed and assembled by Rick Myers in his Cabin Studio, Easthampton, Mass. In a recent NTS Radio show, Andy Votel previewed a track from the cassette along with this endorsement, “Rick Myers is the record industry’s living nightmare incarnate.”
