Somethin' Else by Wrongtom meets Desta Zion

Back in 2015, Wrongtom enlisted vocalist Desta Zion to version Eddie Cochran's Somethin' Else over his update of the Sleng Teng rhythm. For years it had been rumoured that the rock preset on the hallowed Casiotone MT-40 had been based on the bombulating backing from Cochran's song, which in turn inspired Wayne Smith, Noel Davey and King Jammy to create 'Under Mi Sleng Teng'.

But just as Tom was getting ready to release it in time for Sleng Teng's 30th anniversary, Casio programmer Okuda Hiroko debunked the Somethin' Else connection, admittiing she'd never even heard the record. The track was shelved... until now.

A decade later, as the dust settles on Sleng Teng's 40th anniversary, Rongorongo are proud to present Wrongtom's bubbling rework of the rhythm, with the sweet tones of Bermuda-born Desta Zion making short work of Cochran's RnR classic.

The release comes with a vocal mix, instrumental and one of Wrongtom's wild dubs on the flip.
