Mycelium Intervention by Ruckzuck
Mycelium Intervention is an intergalactic concept album that takes you on a journey from soil to stardust. Exploring themes of spiritual contact though magic mushroom ingestion, rich elites flying away on spaceships leaving the poor to deal with Earth's mess, myths of ancient beings returning to right the wrongs of humanity, etc. Featuring one of the bands most ambitious songs to date, the 20min instrumental epic "Head Northeast 2.5 Million Light Years and Make a Left" evokes the feeling of traveling deep into the cosmos with onslaughts of shining synths, spacey riffs and hypnotic rhythms.
The three members of Ruckzuck left the hustle and bustle of Long Island NY where they got their start to focus on remote work in seclusion. Hunkering down during the height of the quarantine daze to build a recording studio in an old house in the woods. This album further reveals Ruckzuck’s experimental krautrock musical influences as well as their more straight forward rock and roll riffing tendencies.
