Sanftes Land by Russudan Meipariani

During recordings of Russudan Meipariani's "Night Songs from an old City" at Fauststudio Scheer, a free improvised session surrendered with Hans-Joachim Irmler, studio operator and icon of german Krautrock. Sanftes Land is a short cutout of it, inspired by the surroundings of Fauststudio, which is based in a former papier factory straight on the shores of Danube river.
Russudan playes with her voice and Georgian words, partly carried, partly irritated by Irmler's analog organ. Sometimes they moved apart, sometimes they melted to a common landscape which Irmler spontaneously called "Sanftes Land" (Soft land).

Russudan Meipariani is a Georgian composer, pianist and singer.
Her music combines classical, minimal music, georgian polyphonie, contemporary new music, and works with elements of pop culture. The soundscape that Russudan's music creates is academic and archaic, contemplative and extrovert, dreamy and wild, strange and familiar at the same time.
