Little Bird from Hlywing by Ruth Angell
I wrote this song for my son Elvin when he was still very small. Trying to encapsulate those feelings of wonder, fear and love that you have for your child as a mother, knowing that you are raising them to leave you and hoping, praying that you’re the right person to prepare them for whatever life may have in store for them. The words came after being away from Elvin for a gig, as I often am and travelling home late that night I saw a Barn Owl in the night shadows swooping down low and he looked at me for a second. Then the song wrote itself
