Stuffed Animals by Ryan Caldwell
This record has been a long time coming. Some of these tracks were written back in 2016 and I was very tired of keeping these tracks hidden for that long. The whole thing was a bit of a challenge because I’d gotten better at writing and recording over these last 7 years and you can really see the bands in the tree trunk of this whole album because of that. That being said I feel like this album and these songs and the amazing people who’ve helped me with it are a part of my story and I’m finally ready to start sharing that story. It is my hope that hearing my story can help other people cope with theirs.
This album is called Stuffed Animals in part because I had a bunch as a kid and in some ways they remind me of the songs. Every single one has memories embedded in them and the place each fits into my story is the reason that they’re special to me. None of them are inherently unique. All of those stuffed animals were mass produced and sold to children across the planet. Much like people, none of us are so unique in our experience. We all eat, sleep, and cry. Everyone had a mother and a father even if only for a short time. Also, as we are made up of our experiences, when you look at that pile of stuffed animals, in some ways, you are seeing the very inner lining of a part of my own soul. What lines your soul?
