Florida by Sacri Cuori
Florida is Sacri Cuori's new EP.
It features 4 songs, 3 unreleased and one alternate version.
It is also the sonic chronicle of our encounters, on the side of Delone.
Some old friends, and some new ones.
Una Danza – the song – is already featured in Delone
When M Ward heard it, he loved it, and sent us a take, in italian, with some harmonies and some lead vocals, it was clear that a very special version was around the corner. Here it is.
La Florida is the first song we performed live and in the studio with Evan Lurie, a Maestro we knew back from the Lounge Lizards days and through many soundtracks we adore. The song has a melancholy yet uplifting feel between rhumba and tango, and exactly between the Americas and Italia.
With Howe Gelb and Steve Shelley we crossed path, again, in Montenegro.
One week later we were already in Italy recording together. One song for the Sacri Cuori record (Serge), one for the Giant Sand record (Hurtin’ Habit), and this vulnerable ballad about things which don’t go as you expect: Side of the road.
Last Man is a blues song, maybe the first blues in the Sacri Cuori canon. Its lyrics started as a file bumping around continents: Antonio wrote some, Dan Stuart in Mexico worked on some others, Carla in Australia gave her touch too. Our own diva, Carla Lippis, gave it a mysterious feeling, like a ballroom with a window on the End of The World.
