KAN by Samuel Wexler

I'm so honored to get to share my first major work with you. KAN transports you to a new inspiring world, away from the stresses of daily life. It takes you on a musical journey in six movements, organically fusing diverse musical influences in an ever-evolving exploration of its core musical themes. It is essentially the synthesis of my entire life experience so far, expressed in sound. I let the music lead me wherever it wanted, and it took me on this dynamic 105 minute ride, with soundscapes spanning ambient, dance, classical, jazz, sound design and beyond.
In Mayan symbolism KAN represents abundance, fertility, wealth, maturation and harvest. The process of producing this work has felt like a huge maturation process, bringing me to this point of bearing musical fruit like never before. I share this first big "harvest" with a deep desire to contribute to a humanity maturing into worldwide abundance.
I put so much love into creating this, and personally cared for every step of the process. The inspiration for this music started in the Mexican Riviera Maya and I recorded it all in Mexico City, where I built my first acoustically treated studio with my own hands, placed microphones, personally recorded every single element, and then mixed it. After over ten years of working almost entirely in collaboration with others, KAN is my first full length 100% solo work. It was a process of tremendous learning and growth. I'm humbled and grateful to have been blessed with the opportunities and resources in my life to be able to create this, and I hope with it I can begin to give back to the world what life started giving me at age 9, when it first put a violin in my hands. I am honored to be able to contribute my humble voice to the rich legacy of human music, and to be an instrument of the spirit of music. SDG
