Album review from Yeah, I Know It Sucks:

The artist with probably the longest official name that almost sound like a royal title ‘Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt’ is legendary well known in spreading his own take on music created by the self invented ‘accidental guitar’ method. I wish one day to take a peek behind the scenes of his secret laboratory to see and hear how this method goes to work. I expect lots of glass tubes, fumes and doctor masks for some strange reason.

Today within this post I would like to review his 100th release. At this time of writing he already succeeded to surpass this number and the Guinness book of records is following Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt up close in case he breaks a record. It is exciting when it happens. I broke a few records myself by stepping on them with my feet inside a pair of moon-boots, unfortunately nobody noted it down in a book. The eye witness wasn’t very pleased as they where part of his precious vinyl collection.

Anyway to cut to the reason why I am here dressed up with a happy birthday party hat and write this on a computer camouflaged as a balloon is that (like it or like it not) a ‘100th’ release is actually something to celebrate a little bit. It is an accomplishment that is probably in most cases only done by music makers that have endless ideas and are not afraid to give their art away for free to the public You don’t need to take it, but it is out there; waiting for you like 100 puppy’s that are ready to be picked up, cherished and loved.

This release ‘Frozen Chosen’ is made available through the poetic netlabel ‘effluvia recordings. The director had some time off train jumping and for reading poetry at university, but now announced to take the label back out of its hiatus.
So if you are a music maker and are lost in netlabel land in search for a place to release your stuff in a more personal environment; you might want to check out and contact Efflufia Recordings.

I am so sorry that I can’t keep focussed. I know you are here to read more about the 100th release of Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt; His ‘Frozen Chosen’ titled work. And yet I keep avoiding the actual content of it. The reason is probably because this review is done in the ‘accidental review’ method. A way of being basically out of the mind, typing everything that comes up and hopefully gather some information about the actual release along the way. After all nobody can see my party hat or my camouflaged computer dressed as a balloon. But as you might have noticed the ‘accidental review’ method isn’t very to the point or reliable. I guess it might help to hear the actual music, shall we give it a try?

Breakfast With Cameron’ is like listening to the soft data stream of a warm and fuzzy sweet dream. You can hear the voltage but it sounds as if they are more friendly like the feathery content of the inside of a pillow. I hear a girl in the depth saying ‘hello?” Which ads a certain human mystique to the whole sound. The low ambient tones create an extra fluffy state of hypnosis that goes very well with the soft brushes of noise. This is a nice warm welcome and a perfect step towards ‘departure point’.

This place is with its soft presence of backdrop tones and dusty crackles probably the best comforting backdrop I have ever heard in the circumstances of departure halls.
It feels like there is a automatic carrier band that takes us (and our luggage) away through a long spacious terminal.

Than another happening of sound is attending. It has a nice comforting sound that makes me think of abstract rubber car alarm that seems to slip away on a slippery slope. It also features something else that sounds a but like someone cutting something or some alien badminton game in slow-motion. It doesn’t contain the earlier warm tones but if you listen through it and inhale it all deeply; non existing voices might be heard as it is all on the border of psychedelic minimalism.

More and gradually louder is the last work on ‘Frozen Chosen’. It feels as if we are on vacation as we can hear other vacationers having an exciting summering chit chat conversation in the noise while the sound in itself is trying to overrule and absorb all normal communications. At one moment I believe the experimental music method had even created some kind of quaking army of Donald Ducks. What better way to end such a huge mark in the oeuvre of Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt? With this in mind, I will undo the balloon camouflage of my computer and take off the party hat.
