Susie is singing and playing on a Petrof piano.
Most of the songs and chants in this album were written years ago. As it sometimes happens, the lives of devotees get complicated, so the songs were put away in the face of challenging circumstances. A couple of years ago the skies began to clear, so to speak, and there was a quiet “nudge” from within to pull out these long-forgotten songs and record them. The quiet “nudge” became a not-so-quiet “elbow”, so I pulled them out of their resting place by the piano and got to work, the result being Songs to the Divine Mother.

Lyrics from the Bhagavad Gita have been adapted for song by Susie Fowls. Poetic license was used to accommodate song format and is meant to reflect the actual text itself. Susie used the Gita translation by Swami Paramananda (1884-1940) published by Vedanta Centre Publishers in Cohasset, MA.

SeeingWithTheHeart™ artist, Susie Fowls, trained as a classical pianist with teachers in North Carolina, New York and Los Angeles. While living in LA in the 1980’s, she learned her songwriting and arranging skills at Dick Grove School of Music. Her journey on the path of Bhakti Yoga began in 1986 at Ananda Ashrama in La Crescenta, CA. Susie lives with her husband and family in the Phoenix area.
