Hot Takes by See-Through Girls

See-Through Girls debuted at First Time’s the Charm in 2013, a night of music made with the intention of centering the contributions of women, queer and trans folks, and people of color in the DIY/punk community. They decided to stay together and have toured the East Coast and played benefit shows and fundraisers, including one for the bus to the presidential inauguration of 2016 in DC. The Guardian featured them in a piece about the bands following in Sleater Kinney’s footsteps and they recorded three other tapes, including a split with Moor Mother.

They recorded all of these on an iPhone in a basement and kept flubbed notes intact. The band disbanded before these sketches could be cleaned up and polished, so the resulting tracks are in their raw, unedited states at the time they were recorded.
