Since 1996 Remora has been alternating between exploring guitar as a sound source & as a post punk songwriting tool. The latest release Variations follows the guitar exploration end of Remora that dominated releases like Ambient Drones for One Guitar, Reversion, Derivative, The Heart that Kills, & Warm Bodies.
Often made up soley of predominant member Brian John Mitchell, on Variations Mitchell is joined by Rowland Yeargan (Konbanwa, Sportsmanship) & Ryan Shiel. A recording of a live performance as part of the 919Noise series; the instrumentation is Mitchell on music box, bass, & guitar; Shiel on ebowed guitar; & Yeargan on drums & guitar. Based around one note played in standard 4/4 timing on a music box, the piece builds into a wall of sound somewhere between ambient drone & post jazz & art rock. Music for weirdos.
