Refugees Rebuke from Dragonfly Season by Man Go Be

I wrote this song in about an hour sometime around 2008.
I remember coming back to the apt. I lived in at the time and the lyrics just bursting to be written down. I sat and scribbled the lyrics in about ten minutes and then picked up my guitar and put the music too it.
It has developed over the years as a part of my original repertoire but has retained it's form and changes becoming more interesting to me over time.

Despite the title, this song has nothing to do with immigration or any other political row. The title could refer to an experience of meeting someone younger than you who is in the middle of making major mistakes that you once made. Mistakes that perhaps caused you significant social, emotional, or physical burns. The lyrics are a statement to someone who is perhaps caught in a trap that has them spell bound by the surface appeal of it. From one who has tasted that particular poison and suffered significantly from it.
The music depicts the intensity of that warning from one who at one point did not or could not heed it, unto one who probably won't heed it either. Followed by a statement of rising above the triviality of the experience to see a bigger picture that makes the argument within the would be warners self obsolete and relieved.
