Without You from Dragonfly Season by Man Go Be

As is my habit from time to time, I picked up my notebook upon awaking one morning to write a bit in my notebook before getting out of bed.
I wrote down these lyrics and then got on with my day.
I had just purchased recording equipment and spent the next nine hours working on setting up, adjusting, and learning the settings.
I did this by recording myself playing and singing thirty odd seconds of material in front of the mikes and then leaning over the console to listen to the playback and adjust levels and EQ.
The very last time I did this, I picked up my notebook from the morning and placed it in front of me. I started picking out a chord pattern finger style and simply sang the words. I did not feel in the moment and did not hear anything that registered at all. My mind was on getting the settings just right.
I then turned my equipment off just in time to get ready for a performance that evening. Soon my old friend with whom I was staying for a few nights came home. The song is not about him by the way.
I wanted to show what I had been working on, so I turned on the console and played the track back to him.
I got shivers through my whole body as I heard what I had just recorded as if for the first time. I then had to learn the song, as no changes at all have been made to it's form or lyrics since I first sang it.
