1 Verse by Society of the Silver Cross
1 Verse is an epic musical journey crossing over to mystical landscapes and otherworldly terrains, while playing with concepts of life and death, shadows and light and going beyond the veil. Songwriters Joe Reineke (The Meices, Alien Crime Syndicate) and life partner Karyn Gold-Reineke score lush, bombastic and ethereal layers of instrumentation with chant-like vocals at times. Their unique songwriting style blends east and west with dark, gothic undertones. The album features non-traditional instruments (harmonium, shahi baaja, dilruba, ghungroos), 12-string guitar, esoteric synthesizers (swarmatron, therevox, mellotron), Hammond B3 organ, heavy rhythmic percussion and gritty soundscapes.

Society of the Silver Cross is led by husband and wife duo Joe Reineke and Karyn Gold-Reineke. Their sound has been described as haunting, gothic graceland, twisted americana and even “yogic metal”. Their unique songwriting style blends lush organic instrumentation with immersive soundscapes, bombastic rhythms and chant-like vocals, drawing inspiration from the textures and tones of India.
