Dushanbe by Dieter Nyman
Dushanbe is the capital city of Tajikistan and it means Monday in the Tajik language. It was named this way because it grew from a small village that originally had a market on Mondays.
I used this intriguing city as the starting point for a twelve day recording trip in October, 2017. My final destination was Khujand in the north of the country. Along the way I put together this collection of field recordings.
Many thanks to the wonderful people of Tajikistan. Your kindness and creativity was a constant source of inspiration for me. This collection is dedicated to you and your wonderful land.
