Chattings by Hella x Logan
After coming out of their corner swinging wild and crazy with Distinct Motive’s ‘WY’ in the first round of a trio of 140 bass music singles, London-based imprint Sub Merchants bring straight swagger and finesse to their second offering, with a collaboration between Bristol’s Hella and London’s very own grime warlord Logan.
Perfectly poised and balanced, ‘Chattings’ attacks from all angles. From Logan’s effortlessly catchy chorus, through Hella’s sinister soundscapes, to the intricate patois verses that pepper the high pressure basslines; this tag-team performance is a real knockout.
Backed up by a uniquely creative music video, directed by Oxford-based collective Deep Cover who have previously worked with Manga Saint Hilare, Magugu and more, the signing and pairing of these rising stars by Sub Merchants continues to demonstrate an exciting and insightful knowledge of the UK underground, as the label continues to build momentum with their monthly release schedule.
