Mute City by Jacques Jupiter

Originally released in May 2016 through Lyon-based collective Napalm Trees, Mute City is french producer Jacques Jupiter's third main solo effort. Affectionately nicknamed 'Jakju' the artist released an amazing string of projects over the last 10 years, providing beats for rapper S.E.A.R, playing drums with pop-punk heroes AVIONS and tweaking his own brand of atmospheric and incisive beats over multiple EPs and LPs. Mute City is probably my favorite release of his: providing all the subtle references I crave -starting with the title- but going and embracing its own path and ways, giving it its own identity that I personally find more textured and vivid than most beatmakers’ works nowadays (it’s just an OPINION! lol). This album is simply solid and an enjoyable ride, a sure bet for your wednesday afternoon chill sesh with the boïz.
