Canto by Teleseen

Teleseen aka Gabriel Cyr returns with the launch and first release of his new imprint, Areias Music, following a three-year hiatus from releasing music. The three-track inaugural EP, opens a busy season of bimonthly releases for the artist and the label. Exploring the borders between deep house and techno, the three tunes weave infectious polyrhythms around deep four-to-the-floor grooves and synth patterns that connect the dots between ravey and soulful.

The opening track, “Canto do Cacique Cobra Cobral, featuring Carioca percussionist Sandro Lustosa, is a tribute to the Cacique Cobra Coral”, the foundation of the spiritual medium that keeps the bad weather at bay during Rio's carnival. The track combines Lustosa's exploratory drumming with a track that wouldn't be out of place in a Detroit techno set.

Track two, “Sans Titre” turns up the heat and the tempo, veering towards a deeper, rave-tinged side of things while the closing track, “Crossings”, brings us back to Rio via Cuba with the bata playing of legendary percussionist Leo Leobons.
