Following the completion of "So On The Earth Below" came the arrival of summer; and with it, a creative drought that mirrored it's real-world counterparts.

The ensuing weeks resulted in several unused demos. The sound that became core to Anastatica had somehow become unattainable. A hiatus was needed. Creative burnout in full-effect.

Late-July 2020 and repeated listens to Black Sabbath's "Vol. 4" album brought refreshment and imagination. "Laguna Sunrise" was the primary source of inspiration for this track; transposing the concept from a sunrise and a laguna to a moonrise over a tranquil, celestial beach.

In the early stages of mixing and mastering, the working title for the song was "Neptonian Tides"; a somewhat clumsy attempt at associating Neptune (the planet), with Neptune (the god), and the sea. Prior to release, the track was renamed to "Lunar Tides" mostly as a subtle nod to the song that influences it.*

Although it was recorded after "So On The Earth Below", "Lunar Tides" was placed third in sequence due to the juxtaposition between the soft fade out from "Hyperuranion" and the thundering tom drums used in the first few seconds of the intro.

* The "word" LUNA appears in both LUNAr and LagUNA.

Formed within the chaotic miasma of the pandemic, Anastatica is a psychedelic, progressive rock solo project born from a multifaceted need; to serve as a channel for anxious energies, to evocate self-expression and to represent the reinvention of the self.
