Alongside original works, there are many different pastiches, parodies, and stylizations in Andreyev’s legacy. There are nontrivial interpretations of classical music using unusual instruments — a drill, a tractor, a milkmaid; and dodecaphonic reinterpretations of funk melodies, purifying the hearty African American songs from the vulgarity of commercial jazz; and stochastic improvisations based on the folk motives of Pskov region. There is also a cycle of Andreyev’s own pieces arranged in accordance with the traditions of domestic pop-music that deserves particular attention. For this material, instead of the commonly used Italian words, Andreyev, with a purposeful irony, designates different tempos with old Russian words: shibko, zadorno, tikho, mayatno. One piece from this cycle became most popular in the Pushkin Hills district. It’s title, “Porno”, in this context means “quickly, pretty fast”, and yet it is quite possible that such an interpretation is itself a result of the title’s ambiguity.
The famous ensemble "The Fathers of Good Sounds" (Russian "Отцы Хороших Звуков") since olden days brings to the mankind afro-slavic rhythms of freak-n-roll music from Pskov region. Our music makes cactuses blossom, children dance and all the other beings smile. We like uneven rhythms and instrumental hooliganism.
