Nocturnes by The Green Kingdom

These sketches were initially composed to establish the direction for the Empyrean album. They began purely as piano sketches, but over time, were developed further and have taken on a life of their own. With the exception of In Shadow - included here as a stripped-down solo piano version - none of the pieces ended up on the album proper.

The Green Kingdom is Michael Cottone, a graphic designer and sound artist based in Michigan. Interested in creating compositions which blur the lines between soundscape and structure while keeping a sharp focus on melody, his pieces are crafted using a variety of instruments, electronic sources, sampled textures and field recordings.
