The Olson Pingrey Quartet (OPQ) is co-led by baritone saxophonist Kathy Olson and trombonist Randy Pingrey. The OPQ performs original compositions by Kathy and Randy which focus on reinterpreting jazz language in playful and crafty ways. Inspired in-part by the classic piano-less Mulligan/Brookmeyer Quartet this group mixes old school groove with new ideas about form and improvisation.
