Man Down by The Opus, Castro Hye, MetaMorpheus, Rubberoom
Man Down, is a project driven by the current social and political climate. Lyricists MetaMo, Castro Hye and Rubberoom (One of the last recorded songs by the group) describe the psychological impact of living in an environment of violence, perpetual loss and the inconsolable wails of a mother. This project was borne out of both artists’ disappointment with police officers’ interactions toward black citizens. But The Opus also brings attention to black on black crime and broken relationships within the black community, calling out systemic forces as well as each individual to take responsibility for the current state of black culture, regardless of race.

The Opus is the collaboration between instrumentalists, Mr. Echoes and The Isle of Weight, who seamlessly combine their intricate styles. For years, the Isle of Weight and Mr. Echoes were producers for the group, Rubberoom, accompanied by lyricists Meta Mo and Lumba. Rubberoom was born out of an organic fusion of artists who were also long-time friends.
