I looked out to see a great bronze disk hanging, watching me from the sky. The overcast from earlier in the day scrolled somewhere far out in the distance, past the city. The atmosphere changed into something like a still image of a factory at the end of a work day, frozen in time. Exhaust from imaginary smokestacks formed these strong, prominently shaped and unbroken plumes of clouds. They moved at a glacial rate, only to be sliced by contrails. For a moment I closed my eyes and took in the scene. Then I could see it: a shallow creek rolling over the gravel and rocks, stretched thin and far down the valley. And there I am on the road alongside it, in my chopper-style brown and red bicycle, cruising down this wave of natural beauty all around me, just a retro new age hippie with a joint lit in his mouth and a Bluetooth speaker playing to an audience of pine trees. And when I go home, it is my retreat, my sanctuary, my mothership of wood and glass and plants, for the backyard is a pond with wildflowers scattered around the rim along the fence, and in the center of it is a small yet handsome pine tree that stands beside a chaise or hammock or lawn chair and ottoman where I lounge reading books, smoking pot, or sleeping. And then when I open my eyes I can see it again, except this time it is real. Sungazing, there on the ground in my perfect world while I look up and I feel the peak of connection to All Things.
