Hark! The Knight Errand
A miniature suite in three brief acts, Knight Errand is the debut release from toponymic rock outfit Timothy Monger State Park. Led by namesake, singer, and guitarist Timothy Monger, the project celebrates among other things bold melodic songwriting, abstract lyricism, Medieval heraldry, and printmaking.
At the vanguard is "Trade Paperback," an exultant fanfare whose three concise lines of verse proclaim the transformative power of literature. After this, the "Knight Errand" himself takes center stage, "brewing fickle deeds into soothing teas." Favoring practicality over chivalry, his quest to complete mundane tasks is soundtracked by a swirl of jangling autumnal power pop. Shambling along at the rear is "Prayer Goblin," a psychedelic road theme of significant rock and roll mass which weaves through various micro-climates, all within its own eerie biome.
Conceived in the autumn, recorded during winter, then left to ferment in a crucible of global chaos for nineteen months, this is the Knight Errand.
