Tatoeba by Tomoko Miyata
"Tatoeba" draws on the big circle of life, celebrating with quiet reassurance, suggestions, and a personal letter to everyone sharing this planet.
This collection of original songs and a few Japanese traditional songs is inspired by Tomoko Miyata's journey from living in bustling NYC to a small quiet rural town on Amami Oshima, a remote island in southern Japan, where she found her new home and perspective.
The lifecycles of the lush greenery and the dark blue ocean are described along with how our pains and emotions can also change their colors with time.
The album starts out with an original tune called "Let Me…," which is her dialogue with this planet, and it ends with "Everything Is a Part of One Thing," in which she describes how different values are interchangeable and being aware of the connection with other beings makes a big difference. The cycle also brought her back to her roots - looking into her past and the future at the same time.

Born in Aichi, Japan. At 19, she moved to Los Angeles to learn music and jazz. She eventually moved to NYC and had a full-time career in finance and continued performing in the city. She released two albums – “Secret Of Life” and “Begin Anywhere” from BounDEE Inc. (now Space Shower Music), working with the first-call Brazilian guitarist, Romero Lubambo. She has lived on Amami Island since 2017.
