"Terse" can be loosely translated as "concise". However, conciseness also carries the idea of elegance: nothing is missing, and nothing is excess.
Throughout 2024, I've delved deeper into musical styles I wasn't as familiar with and sought to bring all these references together in a single album.
"Terse" is a work that flirts with various styles: Jazz Fusion, Modern Italo Disco, Yacht Rock, AOR, Quiet Storm, and Bossa Nova. But it doesn't stop there. I fused all these musical styles with some more percussive genres - Conga, Maracatu, and Flamenco - that I had already explored in previous works.
I would say that this album is one of my most personal releases. In it, I tried to amalgamate everything that has been influencing me in recent months, but in a relaxed and sensory way that also allows me to listen to it on a car trip or at a party with my friends.
I also imagine someone listening to "Terse" in the company of bands like Nu Genea, The Funkin' Machine, and Parbleu, who have influenced me so much in production. One way to interconnect all these references throughout the album was to bring a more "low fidelity" (lo-fi) feel to the songs in order to create an experience similar to a radio program with songs selected by the listener.
