Celestial Chariots by Unearth Noise & Gautam Karnik
Celestial Chariots is a collaboration between Unearth Noise and violin virtuoso Gautam Karnik. The two met via Soundcloud in 2013. I (Unearth) have always loved Indian classical music, and wanted to see if I could incorporate it into a experimental soundscape format. I approached Gautam, and he was surprisingly willing to work with me on the project. Gautam supplied me with a series of ragas, krithis and varnams to work with, which he had recorded as beautiful solo pieces. Through looping, editing, and other types of processing, new soundscapes were produced, resulting in an exciting new casting of traditional carnatic music.
