Flightless Bird is a son singing to his dying father and reflecting on the unfulfilled life he perceives him to have lived. It addresses the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s on family and how the disease changes everything. The noisy distorted ending to this song is an attempt through sound to illustrate the disruption Alzheimer’s creates not only in the person with the illness but to the loved ones around them.
