Feeling quite empty today

No spark nor flame to compel me

Fed myself to the day-to-day

and fed what’s left to the faintest of dreams

where I can believe that there’s more to this

That there’s more than just “survive”

I’m sick of slowly dying



For when the last light dies

the flame of life extinguished

The heart is nothing more than a void

full of anguish

The days still pass remorselessly

as I try to find a flame to slow the atrophy

The atrophy of vitality



You’ll find me lost in reverie

searching for who I’m supposed to be

Convince this petty soul that it’s all worth it

Show this bag of bones that it has purpose

I hope I find it
