Nimbus by Volker Lankow

Before the final production of this album, I was often outside and I looked at the sky, which was grey and overcast, the phenomena of Nimbus clouds. That inspired me to create this album.
Creating a mental atmosphere with grey clouds and calming background music can be a captivating experience. Imagine a scene where the sky is covered in thick, grey clouds and there is a sense of quiet eeriness in the air.
To face the grey sky inspired me during several daily walks through my neighborhood in Berlin/Kreuzberg and in some rehearsals during that days, which I recorded live in our living room. In order to complete the picture in my head, I selected the excerpts that suited me best from several recordings of different samples.
All recordings were made in a live situation and in one take.
Play these tracks quietly in the background and let the music merge with the visual images of the grey clouds. Together they create a haunting and eerie experience that invites reflection and an air of mystery.

Percussionist since the late seventies, Volker Lankow lives in Berlin, plays and collaborates in many diverse projects, such as together with Bernhard Wöstheinrich, David Rothenberg, to name a few.
Volker works on many Solo projects, using mainly electronics and as well percussions, to develop his own vison of experimental sounds, drones and as well world music.
