Walterpurgisnacht IV by Walter Campbell

Walterpurgisnacht IV is the fourth annual release celebrating Walterpurgisnacht, my personal take on Walpurgisnacht, a holiday rooted in German folklore and held on April 30th.

Improvised, single take, multi-track recordings with my Arturia Minilab synth. Minimal mixing and no edits. Ominous and meditative, this year's Walterpurgisnacht offering includes:

"Silent Evil (Ave Waltharius)" - inspired by John Carpenter and Alan Howarth's Prince of Darkness soundtrack, Mamoru Samuragochi's Resident Evil (1996) video game soundtrack, Andrew Liles' Koschmider’s Logbuch series, and general '80s horror movie aesthetics. This is an edit of the subscriber-exclusive song “Silent Evil” with added layers of synth.

"The Colorless Outer Space" - a play on the H.P. Lovecraft story title, "The Colour Out of Space", as well as a nod to the Maurizio Bianchi album, Colori. M.B.'s sound continues to influence much of my recent work, including this track. Another former subscriber-exclusive, special thanks to Grant Richardson for addressing clicks in the track along with mastering.
