Yaputhma Sound System was a short-lived (1995-97) but influential band from Riga, Latvia. While generally professing a concept of musical circus and crossing every genre boundaries possible, YaSoSy found their religion in rave culture, playing space-rock, dance-punk, trance-techno-house-like songs and improvisations using only live instruments - guitars, drums, soviet synths, brass, assorted percussion and FX, mostly cheap, lo-fi and battered. Which, at the same time, didn't prevent the band from performing unashamedly cheerful, melodramatically romantic or infectiously groovy own pop songs, or unexpected covers of both well-known and obscure/forgotten hits.
