Pseudoragas by Yuri Vinogradov
Music steps on entangled paths of mind: from thought to thought, from emotion to emotion, from moment to moment. It's made from the most precious and unyielding material - time itself.
This music is quite inaccurate piano stylisation of indian ragas. Each piece devoted to a psychic condition or specific emotion: from anxiety, merinma in Ancient Greek, to melancholia.
First piece, in A, devoted to Merinma, anxiety, emotion that lies beyond all ambitions and movements of soul. Second piece, in F sharp, is dedicated to Ataraxia, tranquillity of a philosopher and sage. Then goes piece in F - Acedia - that reveals state of an apathy and indifference. Fourth piece is about Deimos, fear, emotional state that anticipates the end and decay in things themselves. Fifth pseudoraga ends the cycle with Melancholia: the time becomes dense and viscous, mind loses itself among thoughts and things, without power to catch any of them.
Five pieces - five stories, five images in improvisational manner.
