Main Street by Fun w/ Atoms
Their debut album, "Main Street" was released on Boat Records in 1985, and recorded at Smart Studios by Butch Vig, prior to his work with Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, and a slew of other 90's rock bands.
This album combines the jangly guitar styles of the Smiths and early R.E.M. with a nice dose of angst-induced punk energy. More than just a combination of these things, it's refreshing aire of individualism comes from the tight musicianship, the untraditionally deep and insanely memorable vocals, and it's over-all vibe of somber restlessness.
